Here you can see the trailer for episode 8 of “House of the Dragon” season 2!
After the death of dragon rider Rhaenys Targaryen (Eve Best) in the fourth episode of “House of the Dragon” season 2, Rhaenyra Targaryen (Emma D’Arcy) and her son Jacaerys Velaryon (Harry Collett) must replenish their own ranks with new dragon riders. To do this, they turn to Targaryen and Velaryon bastards who also carry the blood of dragons.
These bastards are referred to in George RR Martin’s work as Dragon seeds and we have already met some of them in “House of the Dragon”, such as the two Holk brothers. We introduce you to all the dragon riders that Rhaenyra and Jace have already recruited or will recruit in the future!
Addam von Holk, later Addam Velaryon
Addam was born the bastard of Corlys Velaryon on Driftmark. His typical Targaryen appearance with silver hair and violet eyes left no doubt that he must have the blood of ancient Valyria.
Recruited as a dragon seed by Rhaenyra’s son Jacaerys Velaryon, Addam managed to mount the ancient dragon Seasmoke, once ridden by Laenor Velaryon. There are even some exciting fan theories that Addam is actually Laenor himself, who only faked his murder (as we see in the series). However, this theory is refuted in the series by casting different actors.
Since the sea serpent Corlys no longer had any direct heirs, he worked to legitimize Addam and make him a true Velaryon and heir to Driftmark. In the Dance of Dragons, he is said to have accomplished many great deeds, fought many battles and proven his loyalty to the end.
Ulf Weiss
Ulf White, also known as Ulf the Drunkard, managed to claim the dragon Silverwing for himself during the sowing of the seeds. There is information about his origins, but due to his age, many Targaryen princes are possible candidates.
Ulf fought in several battles in the civil war on the side of the blacks, but was not only notable for his bravery. His greed for wealth and power, his alcoholism and his lack of honor were to be his downfall.
After being denied the titles and possessions he felt he deserved, Ulf switched sides. At the betrayal of Stumbling Town, he and another bastard dragon rider attacked their own forces and fought for the Greens and Aegon II from then on.
Later, however, he himself would become the victim of another betrayal. Although his dragon was extremely valuable to the Greens, his behavior and brutality were no longer sustainable. A group of conspirators had Ulf poisoned with his favorite type of wine.
