Later this week, Blizzard developers will sit down and discuss what we can expect from the next season of Diablo IV, Season 5. First, we’ll probably learn its official name, but what’s really going to get everyone excited is the changes Season 5 will bring to the game.
Diablo 4 has already hosted its Season 5 PTR, so the general outlines are fairly clear, but Blizzard hasn’t revealed everything yet – here’s what’s in store for this week’s show.

We know Blizzard will host a developer update on Thursday, August 1. We also know it will be about Season 5 content, but it sounds like the upcoming season may be even crazier than we thought.
But what you might not expect is that the game’s unique items will be getting an update. Lead Class Designer Adam Jackson posted a teaser on Twitter, suggesting that Season 5 will be focused on said unique items.
Are they about to get ridiculously strong? It sure sounds like it. “Getting ready for the Season 5 PTR livestreams launching next week,” tweeted Jackson, who attends most of these livestreams.
“I couldn’t help but laugh when I saw us make these unique changes. This is going to be a fun live stream, haha.”
Adam Fletcher, the community director who hosted the livestream, was also excited about Thursday’s show. Jackson’s segment will apparently be the longest.

Interestingly, Blizzard seems to be trying to make Season 5 more exciting than most of us expected. Considering that it is launching after the overhaul of Season 4: The Spoils of War, and before the release of the game’s first expansion pack, Ships of Hatred, it’s easy to think that we shouldn’t expect too much from it. We’ll have to watch the show to find out what Blizzard has in store for us.
