Although the Nintendo Wii was released in November 2006 and is currently discontinued, the community mud He continues to use it to do harm with it, and the last one is called Nintendo Kawaiiwhich is literally a keychain-sized Nintendo Wii console…and when we say literally, it even has the keychain chain and attachment.
One aspect to keep in mind is that, as you may have already imagined, a Wii the size of a keychain cannot physically have an optical drive to insert the games into, because then the size would be much larger. The Nintendo Kawaii is therefore a “digital” Wii, whose games can only be downloaded and installed in digital form, and not on physical discs.
The Nintendo Kawaii is the world’s smallest Wii
A common goal within the console modding community is always the creation of smaller and smaller versions. Now, the new Nintendo Kawaii they have created is crowned as the smallest Wii in the world, even smaller than the “Short Stack” that has already existed for a long time. The Nintendo Kawaii was created by modders YveltaGriffin and Wesk, and as is logical, they cut the console into absolutely all non-essential parts in order to miniaturize it as much as possible.
However, creating such an extremely small Wii also has some drawbacks, such as the need for a dock to take advantage of the system’s basic features, or the lack of Bluetooth compatibility. In any case, this console can still run Wii games (and GameCube games for that matter). Since it doesn’t have a wireless receiver, you have to use GameCube controllers and not the original Wii, so the ideal would be to use Wii games that are compatible with this controller.
Here are its main basic features:
- CNC cut aluminum case measuring 60 x 60 x 16mm.
- OMEGA cutout with undervoltage from original Wii motherboard (this OMEGA cutout has been used in other Wii mods before).
- 12-pin magnetic connector inspired by MagSafe.
- PCB for video multiplexing, input protection and SD-USB functionality.
- USB-C powered dock, which includes four ports for the GameCube controller, composite video output, and stereo audio output.
- RGB lighting.
- Key hook.
For now, it is in the development phase, but once they verify that the product is complete and ready to work, the Nintendo Kawaii will be open source. The current state of the project has generated a lot of expectations, and they are already preparing the possibility of placing massive orders “at a good price” according to Wesk, one of the creators, although they have not confirmed how much it will cost. The other creator, YveltalGriffin, said that he still has a lot of work to do, so we also do not know the exact date when it will be available.
In any case, we find the project quite interesting, especially since at present, the Nintendo Kawaii would be the smallest Wii in the world.
