Google typically holds a major launch event in the second half of the year, and 2024 is no different.
However, as the company has now confirmed, Google’s next launch event will take place earlier than usual this year. We also have two official teaser videos showcasing some of the devices we’re expecting.
Other hardware and software updates are also expected at the Made by Google event. Here’s everything you need to know about it, including how to watch it live.
When is the next Google event?
In an official teaser video, Google confirmed that its next event will take place on August 13, 2024.
Here’s when the event will start, depending on where you are:
- UNITED KINGDOM: 6:00 p.m. BST
- West Coast of the United States: 10:00 a.m. (Pacific Time)
- East Coast of the United States: 1:00 PM ET
- Central Europe: 7:00 p.m. CET
Based on last year’s event, it should last about an hour.

How to watch the Google event live
Google has not yet confirmed where the event will be available to watch live.
However, given that the company owns YouTube, it’s almost certain that the stream will be via the Made by Google YouTube channel. We’ll embed the stream here as soon as it’s available.
If previous years are anything to go by, the game will also be available on the Google Store.
What will Google announce at its next event?
New hardware is usually the focus of Google’s events in the second half of the calendar year, and it looks like the company has a lot planned for 2024.
Pixel 9 and Pixel 9 Pro
First of all, Google has already confirmed that the Pixel 9 Pro will be launched at the event. While we haven’t received an official announcement regarding the standard Pixel 9 yet, we expect it to appear alongside its Pro variant.
There have been plenty of leaks so far, including promotional materials, so we already know almost everything about these two new phones. However, there are a few things we still don’t know, including the price.
Pixel 9 Pro XL
The Pixel 9 Pro XL, which is said to be a larger variant of the Pixel 9 Pro, has also been rumored for several months.
While we haven’t received an official announcement at this point, if the recently leaked promotional materials prove true, we could be getting two Pro models, with the standard at 6.3 inches and the XL at 6.8 inches.
Pixel 9 Pro Fold
Alongside the Pixel 9 Pro announcement, Google released a trailer for the Pixel 9 Pro Fold, the successor to the original Pixel Fold.
Surprisingly, this device will no longer be a separate product, but will belong to the Pixel 9 family. This suggests that it will have much more in common with regular phones.
You can read everything we know so far in our Pixel 9 series roundup article. We’re also publishing a separate roundup article on the Pixel 9 Pro Fold.
Pixel Watch 3
We’re also expecting to see the Pixel Watch 3, the successor to the Pixel Watch 2.
The watch will reportedly come in two sizes for the first time: 41mm and 45mm, but it appears to be an improvement over last year’s model in most areas.
Pixel Buds Pro 2
Google is also expected to refresh its wireless earbuds lineup with a new pair of Pixel Buds.
The original Pixel Buds were released in July 2022, so it would make sense to see a new generation at the event. Rumors point to a slight redesign and eye-catching new colors.
Android 15
But it probably won’t just be a question of hardware.
AI is expected to be at the forefront of the Pixel 9 series, and given that it’s also at the heart of Android 15 (which Google announced at its IO developer conference in May), it would make sense for the new operating system to debut here.
However, given the Pixel’s earlier launch this year, Google may wait for its usual October slot.
