Another section of my preview took me literally to the stars and put me at the helm of Kay’s ship. Engaging in a quick battle against some TIE fighters felt pretty accessible right off the bat, the controls were smooth, similar to Starfield, and the ship’s tracking module made short work of pesky enemy ships. After that, I landed on the icy, freezing shores of Kijimi to search for a safecracker. Kijimi is ruled by the Ashiga clan, but just like on Toshara, the Crimson Dawn wants to dethrone them.

I couldn’t resist taking a quick stroll around Kijimi’s environments (and placing a few bets on the virtual Fathier Racing holo table in the bar) simply because these environments are absolutely stunning. Great care has been taken to make Toshara and Kimiji feel alive and authentic, and I can’t wait to see what other notable Star Wars locations look like.

But enough about the buildings, there are multiple objectives. Kay must win the favor of the Ashiga clan and its queen, culminating in a mission to steal a mysterious relic. Having already completed a stealth mission on Toshara, I opted for the most chaotic entry I could find, blasting guards and enemies into oblivion in fierce firefights while ordering Nix to attack anyone who proved more laser-safe than expected. Blaster combat feels extremely satisfying – hits pack a punch, similar to grenades, and the ability to knock out shields with ease or simply stun enemies provided a wealth of options to clean up what became a pretty outrageous gunfight amidst a tranquil environment that was extremely fun.
