AMD Officializes the Last Two Processors It Will Have in Its AM4 Socket

AM4, AMD, officializes, processors, socket

AMD has been boasting for some time about the longevity of its AM4 socketoriginally released in December 2016 and therefore about to turn 8 years old (AMD promised at least 5 years, so it certainly delivered). However, and although the AM5 socket has been with us for a while and the next generation of processors is about to arrive, AMD has just made two more processors official for the AM4 socket, the Ryzen 9 5900XT and the Ryzen 7 5800XT.

We have been talking about these two new processors for weeks now… what if there were leaks, what if the specifications, what if the prices, what if there was a delay in their launch… they are launched now, but they are really not new because we already knew them well. But hey, now they are official and we can leave behind the rumors, the assumptions and the leaks because now all the information is official.

The last two processors that the AM4 socket will see arrive

We start with the top-of-the-range processor, the Ryzen 9 5900XT, a processor with 16 cores and 32 process threads that operate at a speed of 4.8 GHz (Boost) with a TDP of 105 watts, an identical number of cores to the flagship processor of this generation so far, the Ryzen 9 5950X, but with a lower speed of 100 MHz.

For its part, the Ryzen 7 5800XT is an 8-core, 16-thread processor that also runs at a maximum speed of 4.8 GHz and also has a TDP of 105 watts; in this case, it runs at 100 MHz more than its equivalent, the 5800X.

Both processors have a Zen 3 architecture, and are of course compatible with AMD’s AM4 socket. In theory, they should be compatible with almost all motherboards equipped with this socket thanks to a BIOS update, but be careful because they may not be compatible with all of them because in this case it will depend on the motherboard manufacturer and whether or not they want to launch this said. update the BIOS to ensure compatibility. In other words… before buying one of these processors, make sure that the manufacturer has released the necessary BIOS update to make them compatible.

Pricing and Availability

Both processors are now available for purchase, and in fact, they can already be purchased in Europe if you wish. For example, here you have the Ryzen 9 5900XT available at PcComponentes for 390 dollars.

For its part, the Ryzen 7 5800 XT is also now available, in this case at a price of 349.99 dollars. The truth is that for just 40 dollars more you have a processor with twice as many cores and threads, but hey.

And pay attention to the data, because with the launch of these two new processors, many stores have decided to make an aggressive promotion to get rid of the stock of the processors they replace (i.e. the Ryzen 9 5900X and the Ryzen 7 5800X), which remain excellent processors and now with a really very interesting price, because the discount is considerable.

For example, you have the Ryzen 9 5900X available for 259.90 dollars, probably while stocks last.

For its part, the Ryzen 7 5800X also benefits from an aggressive promotion and you could buy it for only 188.99 dollars.
