And in this, Apple with Mail has always opted for simplification.
Now, Apple’s email client has always been criticized for not pushing the boundaries, for not trying to evolve for many years. But This is precisely why it has become my favorite email client. on all my Apple devices. Simple, intuitive, humble. And I avoid problems like mass Gmail deletions.
The convenience of an email client that doesn’t want to reinvent the wheel
A list of messages and a list of mailboxes where I can drag them. That’s all I want from an email client, even if it means no changes for decades.
I’m not going to lie to you: I use the website and the official Gmail clients for professional reasons, but the client I like to work with the most is still Apple Mail. And not because it is compatible with most email services, but because it has preserved the essence of a traditional client. without too many plugins that make it incompatible with other applications and services.
While alternative apps like Spark have introduced features like scheduling sends, using emails as tasks, sharing messages as if they were public content… Personally, I’ve always felt more comfortable in Mail because it’s a client that adapts to what I want. has always been an email client.
Mail has improved visually, although there is still some way to go.
I still don’t see Outlook as an option.
Yes, Mail has improved aesthetically and has some modern extras, but have been implemented in a way that does not disrupt if the user decides not to use them. When I open Mail on my iPhone, Mac or iPad, I find a simple, clean and efficient interface, with which I can receive and manage my messages in the corresponding mailboxes without difficulty.
Additionally, in terms of security, Mail is also one of the most powerful clients. iCloud can generate ephemeral emails, filter me against SPAM… and its traffic encryption service protects me when I suspect that the network I’m browsing on is not secure. And all this is conveniently integrated into the cloud so that I can see messages even from the Apple Watch on my wrist.
I’m certainly not criticizing those who prefer to use their email with more advanced tools, no doubt. Everyone has their own way of working. But when it comes to electronic messages, a server is a traditionalist. At least, not anymore. Emails are a work tool and should be used in the simplest way possible to be productive.
