“Darksiders” is a slightly avant-garde version of the Legend of Zelda series. Although we can’t expect too much from it at the moment, it is indeed a brand new game.
It’s been six years since the last Darksiders game, Darksiders 3, was released to some mixed reviews. Aside from the spin-off Darksiders Genesis, which was released a year later, the series seemed to have run its course, perhaps because it couldn’t make it onto the last generation of consoles. Well, it doesn’t matter, as publisher THQ Nordic has announced a brand new game in the series at its 2024 digital showcase, once again developed by Gunfire Games.

It’s worth noting that Gunfire Games is led by David Adams, who founded Vigil Games, the original developer of the first two Darksiders games, so it sounds like the series will be developed by the people who know it best. An Xbox Wire blog post had this to say about the new game: “The rumblings of ancient caverns are eerie. Embers swirl in the air, erupting from bubbling pools of lava. Three massive heads, hewn from otherworldly stone, burst into mystical flames. In unison, the Scorched Council shouts a single word: The Four Horsemen. We’ll soon reveal more about where the Darksiders series will go next, but for now, know that… the Four Horsemen are out again.”
You can check out the trailer above, which doesn’t really show off a whole lot, just various shots of a lava-filled cave, ending with the aforementioned shot of the Scorched Parliament, with three rock heads ablaze, calling out for their knights. Still, it’s at least good news for fans of the series (and Connor). THQ Nordic didn’t specify when it would share more information, or even which consoles it would be released on, so stay tuned.
