What does the Spotify Wrapped annual review offer?
Spotify Wrapped offers you a detailed annual review of your listening habits. The Swedish music streaming provider markets Spotify Wrapped as a major event every year.
But who is this interesting for? On the one hand for Spotify itself, and on the other hand for you too. The company collects data about your listening habits and how you use the Spotify app. This data is then shared with you.
This cannot be avoided, but Spotify Wrapped also has positive aspects. Every year you discover new music and find new artists. Music is often associated with experiences or memories and these memories are brought back to life with Spotify Wrapped.
Spotify puts a lot of effort into the annual review every year and provides you with a nice design that varies from year to year. This means that the feature is not only interesting, but also always nice to look at.
How does Spotify Wrapped work?
Spotify Wrapped basically works in a similar way every year. Between the end of November and the beginning of December, Spotify publishes the annual review for the current year. For example, Spotify Wrapped 2023 was published in December 2023.
You will receive various notifications via email, within the Spotify app and through social media if you follow Spotify. If you click on your personal Spotify Wrapped within the smartphone app, a kind of “story mode” opens, like the one you know from Instagram.
This story is several slides long and shows you a variety of data and facts about your listening habits. This can be interesting, especially if you really listen to music and podcasts every day.
What data is collected
Spotify collects data throughout the year about the artists you listen to, your absolute favorite artists, the minutes you listen to, and much more. The feature covers this in several slides and shows you, for example, which song was your favorite of the year.
Although the design changes every year, Spotify Wrapped always provides you with similar data and information about your listening habits. Some of these are:
- time spent in minutes, hours, days, weeks, months or years
- total number of songs listened to
- your top 5 songs
- your top 5 artists/bands
- the top genre
Spotify Wrapped for Artists
However, there is also Spotify Wrapped for artists and bands. They naturally look more at the streaming numbers and how their own music is doing on the platform. Spotify therefore also offers interesting data to artists.
For example, Spotify tells you how many countries your music has been played in, or in which country it has been listened to the most. There is also different information about the streams. It is also interesting to see how many playlists your music has made it into.
Spotify shows in detail how many hours, days, weeks, months or years your music has been listened to. If you have generated a lot of streams, the numbers can be impressive. For artists and bands, this is a special motivation to continue releasing music.
How to use Spotify Wrapped
Spotify Wrapped is time-limited each year. After release, it is available until the end of the year. So you have about a month to view your personal Spotify Wrapped.
The annual review will be displayed on the home page within the app as soon as it is available. If you have neglected to open Spotify Wrapped on time, all you have left is your personalized playlist with your “top songs” from the year. You can find this by searching for “Your Top Songs 2023” within the Spotify app.

If you want to save the data and information, you can only do this using the screenshot function on your smartphone or desktop PC. At the end, however, you as the user have the option of sharing a graphic via social media.
