Now that My Hero Academia has finally come to an end, Shonen Jump is asking the world who is the number one hero

Academia, finally, Hero, Jump, number, Shonen, World

My Hero Academia creator Kohei Horikoshi has promised a big announcement after the final chapter of the series, and that is… a global popularity poll!

Okay, this might not be the kind of announcement many of you were hoping to hear, but it’s a pretty significant one. For those who don’t know, character popularity votes are fairly common in Shonen Jump’s larger series, like Jujutsu Kaisen, Chainsaw Man, and of course, My Hero Academia. The only problem for international readers is that these votes are limited to Japan, meaning you can’t vote for your favorite characters to help them take the top spot in the popularity contest. However, as Shonen Jump has announced, for the first time in the series’ run, you’ll be able to vote! In fact, there are several votes you can participate in.

The first round of voting, called the Main Stage, started yesterday and will run until September 30. You can actually cast one vote per day on the official voting website, so if you’re dying to see a character win, be sure to stay tuned over the next few months. Then, in December, the winner of the Main Stage round will be announced on Shonen Jump’s official YouTube channel on December 2, taking the title of “World’s Best Hero” along with a special video.

The second round, aptly called the Plus Ultra Stage, begins at 8pm JST on December 2nd and lasts for 24 hours, with the top three winners from the Main Stage available for voting. You can vote once an hour during this round, up to 12 times over the entire 24-hour period, with the winner announced at 9:30pm JST on December 3rd. The winning character will be crowned MHA and will receive a special illustration of Horikoshi, as well as a statue based on the same illustration at some point in the future, so be sure to vote wisely (no one wants a statue of Mineta, after all).

My Hero Academia finally concluded with episode 430, 10 years after it premiered. Along with the voting results, it was revealed that a fan book will be released in January 2025, an art book will be released in February 2025, and a manga art exhibition will be held in Japan next summer.
