Some of the wildest collaborations between Marvel and DC comics will be back in print for the first time since 1996. Release date is October 8th. DC Versus Marvel: The Amalgam Age Omnibus is a 25-part compilation of some of the biggest brawls and strangest mashups between the high-profile heroes of the two comic book titans.
The DC vs Marvel The run began as a special crossover miniseries, with two issues published by Marvel and the other two by DC. Originally, readers chose the winners of each issue by filling out ballots that were sent to comic book stores in advance.
If you want to add these important issues to your comic library, you can DC Versus Marvel: The Amalgam Age Omnibus out of Amazon for $134.99 or at Penguin Random House for $149.99.
The original four-issue run was eventually expanded into what became known as the Amalgam Universe. This allowed heroes from both franchises to battle each other, but also led to some really strange and sometimes cursed combinations like Bat thing (a combination of DC’s Man-Bat and Marvel’s Man-Thing) and Lobo the Duck (of course a mashup of Howard the Duck from Marvel and Lobo from DC).
In addition to the original DC vs Marvel running since 1994, The Amalgam Age Omnibus contains the eight-part sequel featuring Access, the superhero responsible for creating the Amalgam universe, as well as the subsequent one-shots.
