There have been a number of adaptations of the Legend of Zelda series, including an upcoming live-action film with Sony Pictures. For our money, one of the most compelling retellings is the long-running manga series by artists A. Honda and S. Nagano, who collectively go by the pseudonym Akira Himekawa. Right now, you can pick up its first 10 volumes in The complete box set “The Legend of Zelda” for more than half off – only $48.17 (was $104.99). Legendary Edition – Boxset is also on sale for $78.99 (was $125).
And the best part? You get actual link dialog – and he’s quite eloquent too!
Both sets contain the same stories but in different packaging, with the Legendary Edition collecting the works into five books. I admit that I prefer the Legendary Box Set because it comes in a treasure chest and I can hum a little tune every time I open it as I hoist the book high above my head in a triumphant pose while my dog looks at me from the side.
The first 10 volumes by Akira Himekawa adapt the greatest Zelda stories from A connection to the past further:
- Ocarina of Time (Part 1 and 2)
- Majora’s Mask
- Oracle of the Seasons
- Oracle of the Ages
- Four Swords (Part 1 and 2)
- The Minish Cap
- A connection to the past
- Phantom Hourglass
These aren’t the only Zelda books currently available in stores, though. There are also three hardback compendiums available for anyone who wants to revisit the entire history of the series. The Legend of Zelda Encyclopedia costs $25.52 (previously $39.99) and offers a comprehensive, illustrated overview of the series from the original NES title to Twilight Princess and contains an official Zelda timeline up to that point that is nothing short of complicated. Other hardback Zelda reference books on offer are The Legend of Zelda: Art and Artifacts for $23.77 (previously $49.99) and The Legend of Zelda: Hyrule History for $23.60 (previously $39.99), including Sky Sword Prequel manga by Akira Himekawa.
