Japanese arcade game Under Defeat, which also hit consoles, is heading to the Nintendo Switch this fall here in the west. The classic shoot ’em up will be released both physically and digitally on Switch, although an exact release date has yet to be announced. The game is developed by City Connection and published by Clear River Games. Here’s what’s new:
“Under Defeat now arrives on modern console platforms with no less than three game modes designed to suit player preferences and overseen by G.rev. Arcade mode faithfully replicates the original arcade experience, presenting the game in a 4:3 aspect ratio and pseudo-vertical display, for the cleanest possible game display. New Order Mode adapts the game to modern screens, turning the adrenaline-filled shooting action into 16:9 widescreen, and New Order Mode+ brings a lot of additional elements to the game, not least the “ALERT GAUGE”, which increases the risk / reward mechanic that helps player as he shoots, bombs and weaves his way through hordes of enemy invaders. All modes have access to a choice of four unique helicopters to pilot into battle, each with different attributes and weapon systems. In addition, this new edition also features new added practice features for each mode, along with a choice of all three existing soundtracks and a new enhanced soundtrack by video game music veteran, Shinji Hosoe (Ridge Racer
series, Tekkenseries, etc.) and his company, Super Sweep.”
