Kunitsu-Gami: Path of the Goddess offers a lot of variety in boss fights, but one of the most difficult fights will come your way early on. Mukadejoro is an aggressive behemoth with unique mechanics and a stubborn AI. All of this adds up to a massive difficulty boost.

As tedious as this sounds, the additional objective for the level is to complete it in under three minutes. My first successful run through this battle took 12 minutes, so I understand how difficult the idea of completing it in under three minutes is. I’ll go over the strategies to beat this nasty bug and how to complete it quickly for those who want to complete the challenging objective.
Prepare with the right villagers
Mukadejoro is a unique boss because he favors you especially. This would normally make it easier to protect the villagers and Yoshiro, but the monster’s size and the area it covers with its attacks means they’re in danger as long as you’re around. Any direct damage they take will be huge, and the time spent healing them individually is too precious to waste. For this reason, I suggest you assign long-range roles to all villagers.
Archers are fortunately sufficient for this task, although they are more effective if you upgrade them as much as possible. You will need to remember their attack range and do your best to keep Mukadejoro within it.
Use the lanterns to your advantage
The previous level introduced the lantern mechanic, which is also present here. Villagers won’t attack enemies that aren’t lit by the lanterns or Soh. Additionally, Mukadejoro’s weak spots turn out to be disgusting, wriggling pieces of flesh when they’re near a light. If it’s not close enough, the next best option is to focus attacks on its mouth.
If you’re having trouble in battle, it’s worth heading to each lantern. Lighting each one will illuminate the entire cave and reveal all of the armored monster’s weaknesses at once. While this scary boss will look mean as hell, you couldn’t ask for a better chance to go on the offensive.
Position your villagers to stand next to them before triggering the boss fight. You must physically stand next to a lantern before you can ask a villager to light it. Having them already there will save you time and help you start the fight off on the right foot.
Keep the right distance to defeat Mukadejoro
The key to victory is to keep your distance and be aware of your surroundings. Yoshiro’s safety is the only deciding factor for game overs in Kunitsu-Gami: Path of the Goddessand knowing how easily enemies can reach them is a crucial tip This boss fight requires special attention because his attacks are so all-encompassing. Although Mukadejoro deliberately tries to kill you, he can deal tremendous collateral damage to Yoshiro and your villagers.

You need to be far enough away so that the monster doesn’t hurt anyone, while also staying within range of your archers. It’s hard to keep a balance when you’re trying to land as many hits as possible at the same time, which is why fully upgrading your archers (and thus their range) is very helpful.
It is important to find out how to deal with the boss’s often used, unblockable attack. It’s a pursuit charge that moves faster than you and lasts for a deceptively long time. Just like other enemies, you know it’s coming when a giant icon appears above the monster’s head.
The best way to avoid this is to roll out of the way and stay close to its body. You should push the large bug towards its lower half to give yourself a large enough circle. Be careful not to touch any part of its body as you will take damage from this attack.
If that doesn’t quite work, you can try another method: to lead it to the inner wall. Tracking the attack can be difficult near walls and sometimes it can take extra time to get back down. Once the attack is ready, start striking, focusing on any exposed weak spots. Repeat the process to reduce the boss’s health and free you from this cave.
How to defeat Mukadejoro within three minutes
Much of the strategy above can be applied to defeat Mukadejoro quickly, but with a few key changes. Here are some additional tips you can use if you’re having trouble doing this in under three minutes.
- Consider not lighting every lantern – Running to each lantern individually to tell a villager to light it is a huge time-waster. Mukadejoro will eventually blow out all the lanterns in one breath if they’re all lit anyway. Ignoring a few and keeping the boss close enough for your villagers to attack him is a viable strategy if you’re not much further along in the game.
- Come back after unlocking Soh upgrades – Since I was able to upgrade Soh, I’ve been able to regularly beat Mukadejoro within three minutes. With multiple Tsuba Guards and access to moves that deplete the resist gauge, it’s much easier.
- Try other villagers – Archers should still be your best bet, but there are other villager roles you can try as well. A team of fully upgraded snipers can deal a lot of damage at a relatively good rate. If you’re particularly cocky and can deal the most damage, you can also win with a team of fully upgraded ascetics.
If you defeat Mukadejoro in less than three minutes, you will receive a Mazo talisman called Demon Squadron. Equipping this will reduce the time it takes villagers to clear obstacles and repair bridges during the day. While this is fairly specific in application, it is useful for many of the later stages of Kunitsu-Gami: Path of the Goddess.
