Our verdict
An easy-to-use app that could perhaps benefit from a design update, Stellar Data Recovery is a great way to recover lost iPhone data – and it’s budget-friendly too.
When testing the best data recovery apps for your iPhone, one thing remained consistent: they are easy to use and have a neat appearance.
Stellar Data Recovery bucks the trend somewhat with a relatively dated interface, but it’s still a great choice for just about any user thanks to its significant recovery potential, friendly price, and the fact that it’s a one-trick pony in the best sense of the word.
While options like EaseUS cost around $59.95/£56 per year, Stellar is regularly on sale for $39.99/£39.99 per year (usually $59.99/£59.99). Additional features for enterprise device management are included in its Toolkit options, which cost more.
Given that the license lets you use Stellar with three iPhones, you could pay £40 for a year and cover your whole family – and the app itself is awesome, too.
First impressions

Stellar has been in the recovery game for years, and while that means finding the product you need is a little trickier since there are also Mac-focused versions and Windows options, the iPhone version is definitely a little dated.
I actually installed Stellar’s Mac recovery tool by accident, and it’s much cleaner to look at, with a pleasant purplish tint. On the other hand, the iPhone version’s gray makes it look like an app from a decade ago, though I do appreciate the nice scan animation as it digs through your phone’s data.
It’s also faster than some options we’ve tested, so you don’t have to wait anxiously to see if it’ll do the job or not. This is thanks to a basic scan that can be used to find certain data, acting as a sort of “triage.” After that, you’ll need to run a deep scan to find other data, which can be much slower.
Features of Stellar Data Recovery for iPhone
Foundry
Fortunately, the fact that the app focuses on a single function makes it nice and light. It’s also reliable: during all my tests, even on my iPhone running the iOS 18.1 beta, it encountered no difficulties.
It’s no slouch when it comes to recovery. I used it for WhatsApp attachments, deleted contacts, and even notes, and it did a great job with everything. It’s worth noting, however, that you’ll have to pay for anything other than Safari bookmarks, as that’s all the free version will recover before you have to pay.
It can also recover data from iTunes and iCloud backups, so if your device is unfortunately lost, your data may not be.
Stellar Data Recovery for iPhone Annoyances
As I mentioned, the only thing that really holds Stellar Data Recovery tool back is its aesthetics, and that might be a bit of a sore point for a minority.
However, while other products in this space seem to have been designed by Apple itself, there is still room for improvement.
Should you buy Stella Data Recovery for iPhone?
At a reasonable price, Stellar Data Recovery for iPhone overcomes its outdated stylings to offer an impressive suite of recovery options.
