The W gets new features and improvements in NBA 2K25 for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S and PC.
2K reveals new features and enhancements coming to The W in NBA 2K25 on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC. Players can outshine WNBA legends and compete with rising stars to become The W’s GOAT against WNBA greats past and present.
The new updates include changes to The W Online, including a brand new mentoring feature, where players can participate in press conferences where they will be asked questions based on their in-game performance after a competition.
“The WNBA season was overwhelming and showcased incredible talent, especially from the dynamic rookies who also made a lasting impression on the legends. We wanted this action-packed season to be reflected in NBA 2K25 and show that The W is all about chasing victory. This year we are giving players even more immersion and opportunities to put their own personal stamp on the WNBA. We worked with the league to scan even more WNBA players and make it as realistic as possible. We even reworked our engine to make even the smallest details like eyelashes and a larger catalog of hairstyles available” – said Felicia Steenhouse, Senior Producer at Visual Concepts.
The W returns this year with a host of features and improvements to help players become the GOAT:
- Striving for greatness: Players aim to climb the all-time rankings in the new Pursuit of Greatness storyline and earn a name that eclipses the best players in WNBA history, focusing on career-defining moments throughout their journey. As an overarching narrative in their first season, players enter the exciting 2024 WNBA Rookie of the Year race and compete against players like Angel Reese, Caitlin Clark and Kamilla Cardoso. Players enhance their resume with on-court accomplishments such as championships and honors, with progress visualized with detailed graphs that show where they currently stand in their career and compare themselves to rivals on the GOAT list.
- Press conferences: For the first time, press conferences will be part of The W, allowing players to shape their career and league story. Press conferences will take place after key moments, such as when they set a record, reach a career milestone or receive an honor like Rookie of the Year. When players face someone on the GOAT list, like NBA2K25 Cover athlete A’ja Wilson, the questions may depend on performance, be it good or bad.
- The W Online: The W Online has moved to an impressive outdoor court in the forest. Players can join 3v3 multiplayer matches that take place in a fabulous redwood tree setting. Additionally, weekly community goals return to NBA 2K25. These require the collective effort of all players to achieve. The goals now track new statistics such as the number of excellent shots and teammate ratings.
- Mentoring for game changers: The W Online in NBA2K25 builds on the Game Changer status earned by contributing to community goals and introduces a new feature called Mentorship. In addition to special rewards like player boosts for MyPLAYER and teammates, players have the opportunity to take someone under their wing who has not yet achieved Game Changer status. Players who help their protégés complete the challenges will receive a boost to their community goals.
