The latest entry in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, Deadpool and Wolverinehas become the highest-grossing R-rated film of all time after less than 25 days at the box office.
Deadpool and Wolverine is the latest entry in Ryan Reynolds’ R-rated Marvel trilogy and the first to officially join the MCU. The action comedy also stars Hugh Jackman, who returns to play a new version of Wolverine after the character was cast in Logan. There was a lot of hype about the comic strip and thanks to mostly positive reviews and competition like Borderland Flopping hardthe latest Dead Pool The film made history.
On 15 August Deadpool and Wolverine officially became the highest grossing R-rated film in history, surpassing WB’s and DC’s joker starring Joaquin Phoenix. Deadpool and WolverineTotal revenues currently stand at $1,085,529,057, exceeding Joker’s 1,078,751,311 USD.
It will be interesting to see if WB, in an effort to regain the top spot, joker in cinemas before this year’s Sequel with Lady Gaga as Harley Quinn.
“Now imagine, Hugh [Jackman] had taken a frontal shot. With a hood, of course,” tweeted Reynolds on August 16th along with a video celebrating the record.
