Activision is using the upcoming release of Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 as an opportunity to optimize the Call of Duty HQ and fundamentally improve memory management. Part of this plan is also the decoupling of Call of Duty: Warzone from the annual main games.
The company has evaluated community feedback on a larger scale and is now incorporating it into a roadmap that gradually implements the various changes and innovations to improve the Call of Duty experience.
The menus will be simplified so that navigation through the game and the different modes will be more intuitive in the future. The aim of the revision was to make it quicker and easier for gamers to access the content they prefer, so the main focus was on reducing complexity.
In addition, memory management is to be fundamentally optimized, which should lead to reduced download sizes. Up until now, all data volumes had to be downloaded, even if only part of the content was needed. In the future, you should be able to decide for yourself which parts of the game you want to use and install, for example just the multiplayer mode or just certain campaigns. This should save storage space! In this context, the free-to-play Call of Duty: Warzone will also be further decoupled from the main games that are released annually.
The term “modular content” allows you to choose which content you install, customize the game and download not only the modes you want, but also the maps you want. This gives you maximum flexibility.
However, the planned changes will not come all at once, but will be rolled out in several phases until they are complete by the release of Black Ops 6. Starting with Season 5 of Modern Warfare III on August 21, the game content will be reorganized. The Black Ops 6 open beta will start on October 30, and the new user interface will be available from mid-October.
