In recent years, travel has become almost ubiquitous. When not so long ago, one undertook a trip, it was something occasional and almost rare. Nowadays we travel almost all the time.with trips abroad, super comfy weekend getaways to Europe and even day trips to a picturesque town or beach.

This is why, sometimes, It may happen that we do not remember having been to a certain place or another.. Not everyone has a good memory, and I personally have gotten to the point where I no longer know how many countries I have visited in a given year. Literally. More than once, I have had to use Google tools to confirm it.

Specifically, I used two, Google Maps and Google Photos. The first thing it does is tell us where we’ve been every day of the year, or it can group all the movements into a list by city or country. Google Photos locates the images we’ve taken and uploaded to the cloud.

Google Maps

To find out where we used Google Maps we must have the timeline active. What it does is position the mobile phone every few minutes and is able to track its movements throughout the day, not only with the locations, but also with the routes that connect them.

To be able to consult it, you must Open the app, tap the avatar in the top right corner, then go to Your Timeline. When we enter this section, a map appears at the top and a list of sites at the bottom. It is in this area where you can change the date, by clicking on Today, to choose the desired day. In this way, you can know which route we took on a specific day.

Another option is to do this in World, in which case what will appear will be the countries we have been to. If we enter one of them, we will be able to navigate through the cities we have visited there.

Google Photos

Google Photos location feature not working with the GPS of the cell phone trying to locate us, but rather uses it but to locate images. If this feature is active in the camera, the system will record the image coordinates in the EXIF of the photo, so that they can be geotagged on the Google Photos map.
