If you’ve been wanting to check out the Until Dawn remaster, there’s good news: it’s finally got a release date, along with a trailer showing off its changes.
Back in May at PlayStation State of Play, Supermassive Games announced that it would be remaking the 2015 horror game, and even though the game isn’t even a decade old yet, hey, that’s the industry these days. No release date was announced for the game, but earlier today, PlayStation confirmed on the official PlayStation Blog that you’ll finally be able to play it on PS5 and PC on October 4. The announcement came with a new trailer, which you can check out below, which compares and contrasts various scenes between the original and the remake.

The first noticeable difference is that the visuals look much better, with the game having been redesigned and rebuilt using Unreal Engine 5. “One of our key visual improvements to Until Dawn was to revisit the character models and bring them in line with modern advancements in character modeling and rendering,” the blog post explains.

The prologue was also reworked, as the team felt it would be “better to pace the narrative. We gave the Washingtons extra screen time, allowing us to explore their close family relationships and get to know them better. We also reimagined some of the original scenes and expanded the context around this infamous prank.”
You may also notice that some scenes are shot differently, with some using entirely new camera angles and others slightly tweaked. Some moments in the game also use a typical third-person perspective instead of a fixed camera angle.
Beyond that, there are some new collectibles as well as accessibility and usability settings, but these haven’t been detailed yet.
The Until Dawn remaster will be released on October 4 for PS5 and PC.
