Excellent news has been announced for early Resident Evil fans. A cult game from the horror saga is coming back very soon and we now have details such as the release date.
The Resident Evil license is doing very well, except on mobile, where it is a disaster. Currently, the idea of porting RE7, RE Village and RE4 Remake to iOS to take advantage of the extra power of Apple’s latest iPhones is a failed initiative. At best, there were obviously only 34,000 buyers who wanted to discover Village on smartphone. We don’t know Capcom’s forecasts, but they still seem very low. At the same time, one of the fan favorite games is returning with some new features that might interest players on a specific platform.
A Resident Evil game is coming soon with improvements
Apart from mobile ports to maximize profitability, Resident Evil 9 is well on its way, but we shouldn’t see it for some time. Capcom simply stated that, surprisingly, a new episode is in development. A work with old characters like Leon S. Kennedy? Chris Redfield or, on the contrary, protagonists like the daughter of Ethan Winters, who already had her Shadows of Rose DLC? Suspense! For now, what interests us is the return of a cult game with new features. On June 26, 2024, GOG released Resident Evil 1 for the first time on PC. The 1996 version in its original form, but still with comfort features, more extensive localization and even compatibility with various controllers on the market.
During this shadow-throwing, GOG stated that Resident Evil 2 and 3 in their respective original versions would be next on the list by the end of the year. Well, things are moving as RE2 is set to arrive soon 27 August 2024 on the PC via GOG. It is available individually for 9.99 dollars, in a bundle with the first three games for 24.99 dollars and will include a whole range of new features.
Like Resident Evil 1, RE2 will be compatible with Windows 10 and 11 and all current controllers (PS5, PS4, Xbox Series X|S and One, Nintendo Switch, Logitech F…) and will include six locations. In addition, there will be new rendering options (e.g. windowed mode), improved volume, cutscenes, subtitles and memory management, and you can (re)discover the 4th Survivor and Tofu modes from the start.
