LEGO fans with a Mario penchant have reason to rejoice: Mario Kart is now getting its own LEGO sets!
The LEGO Group is continuing to expand its Super Mario offering in cooperation with Nintendo – and now it’s the turn of the fun racer spin-off Mario Kart. At gamescom, the companies have now presented six new sets that will be released as Mario Kart sets under the LEGO Super Mario series, bringing the fun racer into the world of LEGO bricks for the first time.
The six sets, which are set to be released in 2025, will include some of the most famous characters from Super Mario, including Yoshi, Donkey Kong, Toad, Baby Mario, Baby Luigi and Baby Peach. They will come with customizable karts and track elements. The sets are also designed to encourage fans’ creativity and ideas as unexpected surfaces are transformed into Mario Kart tracks.
Mario Kart sets will also add a digital layer of play, as you’ll be able to add LEGO Mario, LEGO Luigi and LEGO Peach. Iconic audio effects and visual effects for race starts, horns, kart drifting and sliding sounds from the game will be used. The characters can also be used to scan item boxes to collect additional coins and improve the score when completing a race.
Prices for the individual sets are still pending. However, news has also been announced on another front: LEGO Animal Crossing is getting three new sets: Stargazing with Eufemia, Leif’s Caravan & Garden Shop, and the sisters’ tailor shop.
All new sets will be available from January 1, 2025 via LEGO.com, as well as in LEGO stores and select retailers.
