So far, it’s been a good gamescom for Diablo 4. During the opening night livestream, we got our first look at the AI companion Mercenary, and everyone at gamescom got to try out the new Ship of Hatred feature as well as the Eccentric class.
Blizzard also wants to engage those who are staying at home, so the developer has announced a new “Mother’s Blessing” event that will take place in conjunction with Gamescom week. The event was supposed to kick off yesterday with the opening of the show, but sadly that didn’t happen.

If you’re not familiar with Mother’s Blessing, it’s the double XP activity in Diablo IV that you’ll use in many other games. You don’t need quite You’ll get double the XP, but it’s still a significant boost. As usual, this week’s event should provide 35% more XP and 50% more gold to all players. The bonuses are also multiplicative, so they add up quickly.
The event was originally scheduled to take place from August 20 to August 27, but as anyone who logged in yesterday can tell you, the event didn’t actually start. Blizzard revealed on the announcement page that the start of the event was delayed due to issues.
“We will provide you with more information once the fix is complete. We apologize for the inconvenience,” the developer wrote.
When Mother’s Blessing officially goes live, you can also expect all of the rewards to stack with Elixirs and Urn of Aggression as you progress through the season. Combined, they can really speed up your XP and gold earning rates, which is pretty crazy since Season 5 already has some of the fastest leveling curves we’ve seen in Diablo IV to date.
It’s also worth remembering that Mother’s Blessings affect both Seasons and the Eternal Realm, so everyone can enjoy these bonuses.
