Once out of the oppressive woods where Black Myth: Wukong begins, the Destined One sees the next chapter of his journey unfold in the barren land of Yellow Wind Ridge, and the first major enemies he faces in this region are the King of the quicksand and the Second Prince of Flowing Sands.
Facing two bosses at once is usually a daunting experience, especially in Black Myth: Wukong where the main Yaoguai Chieftain enemies can kill you quite easily. However, there is nothing to fear if you know exactly how to prepare for this fight and what to focus on during the fight. So, if you are looking for someone to expose these two royal figures and their weaknesses, you need look no further. We have prepared this guide explaining exactly how to prepare And how to beat the King and Second Prince of Flowing Sands.
How to Prepare for the King and Second Prince of the Sinking Sands
You will find the King and Second Prince of Flowing Sands in the Sandgate Village Areaafter the Village Entrance Shrine. The first thing you want to check off your preparation list is unlocking the shortcut to the arena. I’m not saying you’re going to die multiple times in this boss fight, but nonetheless, it’s awful to take the long way around when you’re trying to beat an enemy. The first time you visit the location, the main the door is closed and guarded, forcing you to take a detour, following a path on your right. To open the door, you must go right and then return in the direction of the door. You will have to face enemies, but after killing them, you will be able to open the door.
Now that the way is clear, it’s time to focus on strengthening yourself for this fight. As usual, consider upgrading your health or stamina by spending some sparks or unlocking new abilities for your stances.
You also need to make sure that Craft the Ebongold Equipment Set. At this point in the game, this is the strongest armor you can have. Some pieces, like the armguard, have burn resistance, which is a great stat to increase as you go through this area. Consider crafting some medicine as well as to increase your damage.
How to defeat the King and Second Prince of Flowing Sands
Once the fight begins, the health bars of both enemies appear on screen, and while the Second Prince stays on the ground trying to crush you with his giant mace-like weapon, the King climbs the pillars to throw pots at you from a safe distance. When it comes to facing these two bosses, the secret to finishing this fight quickly and without too much trouble is to focusing only on the Second Prince of Flowing Sands.
The game won’t tell you, but if you just ignore the King, who is basically unattainable, and kill the second prince of the flowing sands, the fight endsYou don’t even have to worry about getting hit by the King’s projectiles since you’ll be constantly moving while fighting the Second Prince.
Now, dealing with the big royal rat is not complicated. He uses a long weapon, which gives him a pretty big reach to close the gap between you. On the other hand, he is kind of a heavy mass, so his movements are slow and easy to predict. Also, Second Prince doesn’t have a long list of moves. The most common attack he uses is a sweeping move. You can easily dodge and start hitting them back, taking advantage of the fact that it takes a few seconds for them to be out of animation.
A variation of this sweep attack is a longer attack, where the Second Prince of Flowing Sands spins his weapon around himself in a long arc. You must be careful with this attack because, after dodging it, you have plenty of time to attack him backConsider triggering your transformation and unleashing a sequence of attacks while the prince recovers from the animation.
The second prince of the sinking sands could also use a thrust attack when he is halfway away from you, or a smash attack. Depending on the camera position, it can be difficult to time the dodge correctly and avoid the first one. Evading the second one is easier, although the animation is considerably fast. Just keep in mind that he can use these attacks and try not to stand still for too long.
Rewards from the King and Second Prince of Flowing Sands
Much like the fight against the King and Second Prince of Flowing Sands, the rewards are simple. Even if you don’t get a game-changing spirit or upgrade, there are still some good things. You get 1102 experience points and 1026 Willpowerwhich will probably help you get any remaining armor upgrades.
In addition to experience and money, you also gain equipment from this fight:
- 1x Stone Spirit
- 2x Silk
- 1x Yaoguai core
- 1x Blood of the Iron Bull
The latter is an important material since you use it to upgrade your spirits, making them stronger and reducing the amount of IQ required to summon them.
Once this royal duo is defeated, you will have a choice of your next destination. The main door in front of you is locked, requiring Stone Strength and Tiger Quickness to open, so you will need to go left or right. We recommend taking the route on the left (near the shrine), as this will continue the king’s story, as he runs away after the fight to go awaken the next major boss: the first Prince of the Flowing Sands.
