Good news, Dune fans. Dune Awakened was revealed at Gamescom Opening Night Live, with a PC release date of early 2025, with PlayStation and Xbox release dates yet to be confirmed. This means you – yes, you at home – can finally access one of the most anticipated MMOs without having to rely on a closed beta invite. Well, as long as you have a PC that can run it.
The announcement was accompanied by an extended trailer showing off the game’s character creator and the player’s early activities on Arrakis (despite the sweltering heat and lack of water, desperately trying not to die). Also included was an overview of how players can team up (or not) with other players for base building, combat, and other survival concerns; a quick tour of the crafting system; and some amazingly expansive sandy open world.

If you don’t know much about Dune Awakening, there are some interesting things about it that are worth checking out. First of all, it is set in an alternate timeline where Paul Atreides is not yet born, so there is plenty of room for interesting changes to the rich lore of the Dune universe. From a gameplay perspective, the game is also pretty cool, blending base building with faction combat and deep dungeons to explore.
The game will be released on PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X/S, and it’s shaping up to be a contemporary MMO worth playing. Let us know what you think of the latest trailer below!
