How to Play Kessel Sabacc in Star Wars Outlaws
After purchasing a seat at a Sabacc Kessel table, you will be dealt two cards for your hand, one from each suit – Sand and Blood – with values ranging from 1 to 6. You will also be given four chips, which you can invest during your turn to improve your hand. The ultimate goal is to get a pair, a Sabacc hand. The closer your pair is to zero, the more likely you are to win.
Each round you have three turns to either draw Or stay. Hitting means taking a new face-down card or recovering the last discarded card from one of the decks, spending one of your four tokens. Standing means you choose to miss a turn and keep a token, if you are satisfied with your hand. The most tokens you have at the end, with the best hand, wins the contents of the token pot. The game ends when only one player remains with tokens.
There are a few hidden cards in each family that have special purposes. Sylop will take the value of the other card in your hand during the reveal phase at the end of the game, forming a pair and a Sabacc. Holding two Sylops is the ultimate sabacc hand. Impostor The card will allow you to roll a die during the reveal phase, if you keep it in your hand. You will take a card of the value of one of the two dice rolled – which is risky, but can pay off.
You also have the option to play three Shift tokens during your game. Each Shift token can be played once in the game, and only at the start of your turn, before you decide to draw or stand. They have various game modifiers that can be extremely damaging to other players, such as the “Embargo” Shift token, where the next player must stand on their next turn, or the “Free Draw”, where you can take a card without paying a token, or the General Tariff, where all other players are taxed one token. You start with eight Shift tokens, and there are up to 16 available to find, as you explore the world.
How to Win the Kessel Sabacc in Star Wars Outlaws
To earn Kessel Sabacc in Star Wars Outlaws, you ideally need to get a Sabacc hand of the lowest value between one and sixA Sabaac hand is a pair of numbers, which can be obtained by having two of the same number, a number with a Sylop card, or a number with an Imposter card (and you choose a number that matches the dice roll).
If two or more players have a Sabacc hand at the end of the round, the player with the best pair closest to zero wins, i.e. a pair of ones will beat a pair of fours.
If no one has a Sabacc, the victory goes to the player whose difference in value between the cards is the smallest. Two or more players can be winners in the event of a tie.
If you don’t win, you won’t just lose the tokens you spend, because there’s an imperial tax. This means that if you lose with a sabacc hand, you lose another token, and if you lose with a non-sabacc hand, you lose a number of tokens equal to the difference between your cards. Let’s say you end up with a 1 and a 4, you’ll lose three more tokens on top of what you spent drawing cards during the turn.

Kessel Sabacc Tips and Tricks
To help you win more games, here are some Star Wars Outlaws Kessel Sabacc Tips and Tricks:
- It is best to start by looking for a sabacc hand with the lowest value card in your pair, for example if you have a four and a two, drop the four to look for a lower value and hope for luck.
- Each turn of Kessel Sabaac, you have the opportunity to pick up the last discarded card of each suit. This means you can see what the previous player has laid down, giving you insight into what they aren’t trying to keep in their hand. If it’s a low-value card, chances are they have a lower-value one, so you may want to hedge your bets by looking for a low-value sabacc, or holding onto whatever you have of lower value.
- You can also place your hopes on a hand as early as you like, which will save you chips. If you are lucky enough to have a sabacc early on, then this is a no-brainer, but you can also hold onto a two and a three since the difference is one and they are low cards. Of course, draw if you have a wide range between your cards like a one and a six, until you buy something better.
- You can also bluff to get more chips from your opponents if you have a very strong hand, such as a sabacc or two Sylops. If you stand, your opponents may be less likely to invest because they already know you are going to win.
- Aside from luck and a bit of skill, you also have the option to send Nix to do some sneaky reconnaissance on other players. To learn more about this, check out our guide on how to cheat with Kessel Sabacc.
