You may have to wait a while for The Witcher 4, but thankfully the original author has just finished a new book

Author, book, Finished, original, thankfully, wait, Witcher

The Witcher 4 is almost certainly still a few years away from release, but if you’re a fan of the original game, there’s good news for you.

It’s unclear how long it will take for The Witcher 4 to launch, that’s just the nature of game development these days, but CD Projekt Red has at least made it clear that the upcoming sequel is its “most advanced” project. Production is scheduled to begin at least this year, so hopefully it’ll be out in at least a few years. Still, considering that The Witcher 3 has been out for nearly a decade, it’s a long time to wait for a new installment in the beloved action-RPG. There will undoubtedly be many Witcher fans who are only interested in the games, but for those who are ready to read the books, the original author has good news: he’s finished another one.

According to PC Gamer, Andrzej Sapkowski recently spoke to French fantasy magazine Chimères and said that he doesn’t have any plans for the future of the series, but he has completed the latest Witcher book. “I’ve finished this book,” he said. “It took me about two years – something like that.” Sapkowski finished The Witcher series in 1999, but later returned to write the Geralt series in 2013, which is set between the original books. At the Warsaw Comic Con in 2018, Sapkowski said that the story was already completed, so this new book will presumably fill in some gaps.

Sapkowski revealed last year that the book will be released in his native Poland in 2024, with a global release date of around 2025, so we’re still a long way from your return to The Witcher. Let’s just hope that it’s not 2030 when The Witcher 4 is released (although we all know it probably will be).
