Age of Mythology: Retold brings back the feel of the original because it stays true to the style in terms of gameplay and graphics. At the same time, the game now looks better than ever. The battle for Troy, for example, is more fun again. The remake also has completely new sound for the campaign. As we describe in the review, however, this was not necessary. In most scenes, such as the one shown in the video, it doesn’t make much of a difference. What we missed most was Gargarensis’ voice, the cunning arch-villain of the main campaign. In addition to over 40 campaign missions, Age of Mythology Retold offers an extensive skirmish mode, a multiplayer with a ranking list and a powerful editor. This is available for 30 dollars on Steam or in the Microsoft Store or as part of Microsoft’s Game Pass. The game will also be released for Xbox Series X and S on September 4th. Buyers of the Premium Edition will also have access to the game from August 28th.
