Wasp Filming has been underway for a few months now, and it sounds like a new actor might be tied up and killed within the year.

As Deadline originally reported yesterday, Joel McHale, best known for his role as Communityhas joined The Wasp Season 3 in a guest role. The official Wasp Twitter account confirmed the news later that day, splicing a photo of McHale in the show’s opening sequence and captioning it “Welcome to the Hive”. No details on his character have been revealed yet, but considering this is McHale, we can probably assume he’s some sort of asshole type character, an archetype he seems to find himself falling into quite often.

McHale joins an already strong cast that includes Melanie Lynskey, Christina Ricci, Juliette Lewis, Toni Cypress, Sophie Nélisse, Liv Hewson, Ella Purnell and Lord of the Rings’ Elijah Wood. For those who haven’t seen the show, it spans two points in time, one set in the Canadian wilderness in 1996 where a group of high school girls crash and have to survive, and the second jumps back 25 years later to 2021 where some of the women are dealing with the aftermath of something that happened years ago.

The first season of the show premiered in 2021, and the second season will end in May 2023. However, we may have to wait for a while for the third season, as the writers’ strike last year halted the show’s pre-production plans. The show started production in May this year, so hopefully we can start production again soon.

We should also see McHale return to his role as Jeff Winger in the coming years, as the long-awaited Community movie is currently in pre-production. It’s six seasons and one movie, after all!
