After an exciting Olympic Games, the time has come for another important event in the world of tennis.
In late August, the best tennis players took to the hard courts of the USTA Billie Jean King National Tennis Center in New York, hoping to win the final Grand Slam of the year. Among the players, there were of course many prestigious names, including defending champions Novak Djokovic and Coco Gauff.
In the women’s category, there is a lot of talk about Zheng Qinwen, the 2024 Olympic gold medalist. There are also high hopes for Aryna Sabalenka, the 2024 Australian Open winner, and Iga Swiatek, the 2024 Roland-Garros champion.
Besides Djokovic, among the men, tennis fans are paying particular attention to Olympic silver medalist Carlos Alcaraz and 2024 Australian Open winner Jannik Sinner.
Here’s everything you need to know about watching the US Open live, whether you’re based in the US, UK or elsewhere.
When is the US Open this year?
The US Open began on Monday, August 26 and ends on Sunday, September 8.
How to stream the US Open in the United States
In the US, live streaming of the US Open is reserved exclusively for ESPN and ABC. If your cable package doesn’t include these channels, you can access ESPN through the online service Sling. You’ll need the service’s Orange package, which costs $40 per month (the first month’s price is discounted to $20) and includes ESPN, ESPN2, and ESPN3.
The other way to watch the US Open is to subscribe to ESPN+. It costs $10.99 per month or $109.99 per year, but you can get a better value by subscribing to the Disney Bundle Trio Basic for $14.99 per month. It includes ESPN+, Disney+, and Hulu. However, keep in mind that this package includes ads.
The third way to watch the US Open is to subscribe to Tennis Channel Plus, although it’s not cheap ($109.99 per year). On the other hand, it will allow you to watch over 100 ATP and WTA events, so it may be worth it if you’re a tennis fan.
How to watch the US Open in the UK
In the UK, Sky Sports has the rights to full coverage of the US Open.
The first way to start watching is to get a TV package which costs £46 per month for a 24-month contract. Currently, you can take advantage of a special offer and get the package for £20 per month for the first month. Keep in mind that the price will increase to the original price of £46 after this period. This package includes Sky Stream, Sky Sports, Sky TV and Netflix.
Another way to access Sky Sports is through the Now streaming service. You can choose from three subscription packages that offer all 12 Sky Sports channels. The basic subscription costs £34.99 per month for a 12-month contract. However, right now you can take advantage of a special offer and get a Now Sports subscription for just £26 per month. If you just want to watch one of the finals, the price is £14.99 for 24 hours of access.
You can also add Now Boost, which adds 1080p video (instead of the usual 720p), removes ads, and lets you stream on up to two devices at once (instead of just one). This costs an extra £6 per month.
How to watch the US Open anywhere in the world
The good news is that it is possible to follow the US Open from anywhere. The first thing to do is to check the list of official broadcasters of the tournament to find out who has the broadcast rights to the tournament in your country.
If you don’t have a channel in your area, you can still access ESPN+ or Now via a VPN (Virtual Private Network). This will allow you to bypass the geo-restriction and access foreign websites.
