Final Fantasy XIV Online director and producer Naoki Yoshida (also known as Yoshi-P) recently reiterated interest in bringing Square Enix’s massively multiplayer RPG to a Nintendo system in the future.
Speaking to Gamereactor recently at Gamescom 2024, he confirmed fan requests and mentioned how the team is working to “achieve that goal.” Here is a translation of his answer:
“ONyour players…they really want to release our game on Nintendo consoles.
“So we’re looking towards achieving that goal. We’re working on it, we’re making progress and we’re having discussions. So I hope everyone can look forward to the news in the time to come.”
The goal is apparently to release the game “on as many devices as possible,” with Xbox players joining this game’s community last year. In an interview in June, Yoshi-P revealed that he would “love” to have Final Fantasy XIV Online available on Nintendo’s platform.
Nintendo has now sold more than 143 million Switch units and plans to unveil the Switch’s “successor” in the current fiscal year.
