A ten-minute gameplay video is said to have leaked, revealing a Crysis project that is strongly reminiscent of a Battle Royale.

Recently, a secret Crytek project codenamed Crysis Next was revealed in a leak spread by Internet users and numerous media outlets. This discontinued title was designed to offer a unique online gaming experience in the Crysis universe and was positioned as a Battle Royale. Perhaps ready to outshine the giants of the genre. And although the studio never made this project official, rumors have been circulating within the gaming community for several years.
A gameplay video has leaked, offering a first look at what Crysis Next could have been. This 13-minute video reveals a distinct class system that allows players to adopt different playstyles. The series’ legendary Nanosuits are also included, offering customizable special abilities for a tactical advantage over opponents. The game mechanics typical of Battle Royales are of course present: narrowing the playing area, searching for equipment and intense clashes. Of course, the video is regularly removed by the Crysis teams, but Internet users like the user PainRunner continue to post online.
Still hope?
Note, however, that the condition of the game, given the pictures, suggests that it was a prototype rather than a finished product. Many elements appear to be unfinished, suggesting that Crysis Next was still in development at the time of its cancellation. Still, many are wondering if some elements of Crysis Next could be reused in Crytek’s future projects. After all, the possibility of a Battle Royale mode in the series’ next opus, Crysis 4, remains a possibility. The community’s attention to this leak may well encourage the studio to communicate more about the development of Crysis 4 and reveal new information. So far, there is little news about the fourth installment.
