Capcom insider Dusk Golem has said on Twitter about a next Resident Evil and that doesn't sound so uninteresting. The game, which has been under development since 2016 and is expected to be released in 2021, appears to be quite different from previous parts, to a degree that fans may have been overwhelmed by the announcement.
However, Dusk Golem emphasizes that the game is of high quality and should be open to the matter. He also mentions that the announcement should be made shortly. He also throws in the room that the development should be very similar to that of Resident Evil 3 (the original), but does not go into what is meant by it.
(1/3) Ah what the Hell, I'll tease a bit more about this 2021 RE game & then not talk deeper about it until a bit after RE3 is out. The 2021 RE game started development in late 2016, by the time it releases it'll have been in development for 4-4.5 years (been in dev at the moment

Not the first rumors about the game. Already in January, reports appeared that Ethan from Resident Evil 7 could become the main character of the new game and werewolves play a specific role, which would indeed be a departure from previous titles in the series. Who knows, maybe Capcom will say goodbye to some well-tried game principles. We hope to know more soon when the announcement is made.
