If there is something that Google likes, it is to increase productivity through its applications and with Chrome it already did it in June with one of its new features. Now it wants to bring back a unique experience in your browser by allowing the sharing of a group of tabs.
And this feature is amazing when creating a tab group for the little one’s birthday gift, the renovating one of your rooms or simply when looking for a holiday destinationsince all tabs added to this shared group will appear as is so that interesting links can be shared among many.
The initial shared tab group experience was the same, but eventually Google decided to remove it at some point in 2021. This option was not present in the browser or via flags, but now it seems to be ready to be deployed, since a new implementation has been found.
And if in this initial phase of 2022 Google added the possibility of sharing groups of tabs by selecting a group and pressing the three-dot button to do so, the central idea now is to create a button that makes everything easier; This is what Leopeva64 found and showed on X (formerly Twitter).
The new share button will now appear at the top of the tab group next to the buttons to add tabs and open the three-dot menu. Now, selecting the new button will open a window from which you can invite other users.
What you have to do is enter your emailand once users accept the invitation, the tab group will display a new icon or indicator to quickly identify it with the recipient’s profile picture. Google has tried to make the experience ideal and if the user does not have a profile picture, as is the case in other applications, it will use the first letter of their name.
Additionally, the page with the main tabs will display that a group is shared with an icon in pill form to easily identify it from the rest of the pages. The three-dot menu in the shared groups tabs will include four options to allow management of sharing, recent activity, closing the group or simply deleting it.
This development, which already seems quite advanced thanks to these shared group tab management functions, cannot yet be activated even in Chrome Canary (the version that Google uses for experimental functions), but the good news is that it seems that it’s on the roadmap to be deployed as soon as maintained Android Authority.
