A new breed has found its way World of Warcraft in the latest expansion, The war within. The new Earthen Race is special because it is the very first Allied Race available to both the Horde and the Alliance. (The Pandaren are not an Allied Race!) Unlocking the new Earthen Race is not as easy as it seems, so let’s talk about how to get the new Allied Race and what passive abilities it offers.
Unlocking the Earthen Allied Race
Before you can get your hands on this dwarven collective, you must first complete the main campaign quests for The war withinthen several quests related to the new race. You will know which quests are geared towards the new race thanks to the Symbol “Allied People of the Earthen” can be found at the bottom of the quest page.
The war within The campaign must be completed in its entirety, and once you reach level 80, it will include five more chapters. From there, you will gain access to a quest line in the Mourning Rise area of the Isle of Dorn that begins with “Before I Depart.”
Once you’ve completed a whole series of quests, you’ll reach The Burden of Duty, after which you’ll need to meet with Machinist Kittrin in the Ringing Deeps. Here you’ll receive the Discarded and Broken quest. Complete all of the quests until you get to Purpose Reforged, then head to Dornogal to speak to Merrix and Steelvein and receive the quest How Scandalous! This questline ends with the quest Bad Deal, which will then allow you to speak to Moira Thaurissan in Dornogal. Phew.
Moira will start the very short scenario that opens the Earthen race in the character creation menu. That’s it! It will take a bit of time, but nothing too crazy, to get a new Earthen to travel the world with.
Earthen skills and classes
Once you unlock the Earth race, you can choose from several classes. Here is a list of all the classes currently available:
- monk
- hunter
- magician
- paladin
- priest
- Villain
- shaman
- Warlock
- warrior
- Villain
Unfortunately, after the beta and alpha testing, Blizzard decided to remove the Death Knight option for the Earthen due to conflicting lore. Despite this, there are still plenty of classes to choose from.
As an Earthen, you start at level 10 in the Halls of Awakening, where you’ll complete a few quests that will take you to either Stormwind or Orgrimmar. The introductory quests for Earthen are pretty short, so don’t expect anything like the Death Knight starting area.
The Earthen, of course, has both racial abilities and racial passives for you to enjoy throughout the game. Azerite Wave can change depending on the ability’s enhancement and can either heal allies or damage enemies. Hyperproductive is a passive ability that increases finesse by 25, while Absorb minerals means you are always well fed. To change the status effect granted by the latter, you must consume a Khaz Algar gem. Here are the different effects based on the gem consumed:
- Emerald: Haste
- Ruby: Critical Hit
- Amber: Endurance
- Onyx: Mastery
- Sapphire: Versatility
Finally, we have Titanium frame which increases the base armor of equipped items by 10 percent and Wide-eyed amazement This increases the exploration experience by 200 percent as you discover new areas around the world.
That’s it in this guide for the new Earthen Allied Race in World of Warcraft: The War Within. While there are many different races to play and enjoy, the Earthen are quite nifty with their jewel-like bodies and unique passive abilities that can give you the upper hand as you traverse Azeroth and beyond in the latest content. Unlocking the new race can be a bit of a chore, but it’s worth it if you’re a completionist or just like a dwarven race with a little more pizzazz.
