Wake up! Baldur’s Gate 3’s super-powerful seventh patch is finally here, and it brings everything Larian has previously announced or revealed – like those extra evil endings and mod support – as part of its total of “over 1,000 fixes and improvements”.
Thanks to a previous community update from the studio, we already knew the patch would bring a slew of new cutscenes to help “bring a darker ending to your most sinister game yet,” as well as the long-awaited official modding tools. Well, during the weekend’s PAX panel, they were teased to be coming this week, and now they’re here.

As outlined in the patch notes/community update post, which is longer than War and Peace, the big highlights of the patch are as follows:
- “Evil Ending: A brand new cinematic ending for a truly evil game.”
- Larian’s Mod Manager, which “allows you to browse, install, and use community-created mods from within the game.”
- Improved split-screen gameplay, Larian writes: “In split-screen play, the two halves of the screen will dynamically merge together when the player characters are close together in-game, and will dynamically separate when the characters are apart. This improvement comes along with many other improvements and refinements to improve the overall split-screen experience.”
- The game’s mod toolkit runs as a free standalone application on Steam. “To help you set up supported mods, we will be releasing a community update in the near future with detailed instructions on how to create and use supported mods, so be sure to keep an eye out,” Larian wrote.
In addition to these heavyweight additions, there are also a ton of Honor Mode combat changes, some new Legendary Moves, and enough gameplay tweaks/bug fixes to fill an entire novel. As of right now, the patch is only available on PC, but Larian explains that it will be coming to cosoles and Mac in October due to some additional checks being done.
As Larian previously revealed, Patch 7 won’t be the final update for Baldur’s Gate 3, but we do seem to be in the home stretch for the game, with the studio writing: “We have a few more patches coming for Baldur’s Gate 3, including cross-plat form play and Photo Mode, as well as other fixes and updates. But eventually all stories must come to an end. As Swen said during last week’s PAX West panel in Seattle – the last live panel we’ll host for Baldur’s Gate 3 – now is the time for the team to return to our caves and hang armor on the walls while we focus on bringing you our next project.”
If you’re looking to keep up with the latest on Baldur’s Gate 3, some of the game’s developers recently talked about breaking their own cinematic camera rules to show you some goblin feet up close, which is undoubtedly what you’re craving.
