Our smart TV with Android TV or devices like Chromecast with Google TV allow you to watch the Digital terrestrial television channels (DTT) without the need for an antenna. There are excellent applications designed for this, such as Tivify, Runtime or TDTChannels.
It is precisely the latter that continues to improve with each update: after the last two, revolutionary changes have arrived that reaffirm it as the best application for watching free DTT. And it’s now available on Android and Android TV.
Updating TDTChannels to the latest version: it’s worth it
Last time we talked about an update to TDTChannels in Xataka Android, changes were added to the playlistsalso in the channel list. Meanwhile, the developer has released several updates that make it even better, let’s take a look at the changelog:
- Greater speed.
- Better contrast on SmartTV.
- Improved EPG programming guide.
- Dark mode by default on AndroidTV and FireTV.
- Improved background playback.
- New interface optimized for remote control on TV.
These changes and new features are mentioned in the official TDTChannels profile on X (former Twitter). As the developer tells us, the latest version adds a change that makes our lives much easier: channel lists are added automatically.
Likewise, the interface improves its appearance in the programming guide. It is now “more visual”, with a layout that highlights the channels of each list in this section. Has it been a while since you updated the application? There is even more: the rewind function get, In shows that support this feature, rewind at any time, in case you missed something or want to watch it again. Very useful though, consider that it does not allow recording.
You have all these features at the touch of a button (on the screen) to download: version v2024.08.01 is available in the Play Store for Android and Android TV. Systems based on it, such as Fire TV, must opt for manual installation by downloading the APK file of the new version.
