Evil, eviler, Karlach! The new ending introduced in patch 7 is really something.
Larian has released the big patch 7 for Baldur’s Gate 3. It includes countless bug fixes, optimizations and official mod support. But there are also 13 new endings for the members of our group to marvel at.
Karlach in particular is currently the number one topic of conversation. Why? Because the actually so nice Tiefling barbarian clearly enjoys her role as the ultimate villain and acts in such a wonderfully exaggerated way that fans are amazed.

Small spoiler warning: We’re going to go into more detail about Karlach’s new ending. If you don’t want to be spoiled and would rather experience it in the game yourself, stop reading now. Instead, check out what free game is available from Epic this week.
How do I unlock the new ending? You have to select Karlach as your origin character at the beginning of the game and then make the right evil decisions during the role-playing game in order to see the brutal sequence at the end.
What exactly happens in the new ending? Karlach has had enough! Instead of saving the inhabitants of Baldur’s Gate, she simply enslaves the Elder Brain and controls it for her own purposes. The result: many dead civilians, flying devil minions and a laughing Karlach who rips out her mechanical heart.

Big praise for the voice actress
Not only the dark and brutal staging of Karlach’s transformation inspires many fans. The Tiefling’s voice actor, Samantha Beartis praised effusively. No wonder, with that frenetic laughter?! Creepy!

Karlach is capable of something so cruel. You can see that there are a lot of emotions at play here. At least we now know what Karlach’s mechanical heart looks like: not particularly mechanical, but blazing brightly, as if it were surrounded by fire.
So there you have it. Do you see Karlach differently from now on? Don’t say we didn’t warn you! Thankfully, though, you have to actively decide to turn the Tiefling barbarian into something so evil.
Incidentally, this is not the first time Karlach has been in the spotlight after a patch. Back then, Update 2 made sure that the lady’s happy ending was more satisfying. Another proof of how many fans she has.
