The International Radio Exhibition (IFA) is celebrating its 100th anniversary this year. At the fair, manufacturers from all over the world are showing the technology trends of tomorrow. Of course, televisions cannot be left out, after all, they play a special role at the IFA: in 1931, the first fully electronic television was presented at the fair and on August 25, 1967, the radio exhibition marked the start of color vision in Germany.

Anyone who thinks that TV sets are now fully developed is wrong. Every year, manufacturers such as Samsung, Philips and LG prove that there is room for improvement and innovation – such as transparent smart TVs, as shown this year by Thomson.

Philips is bringing a new OLED TV to the IFA that is equipped with “Ambilight Plus”. The new version is said to have higher resolution and provide even greater immersion. There are also interesting developments from manufacturers such as Panasonic, Hisense and Samsung. Below we show you the TV highlights of IFA 2024.

Philips is showing its new “OLED+959” at the IFA. The smart TV has an advanced Ambilight, i.e. an LED border built into the back that shines in sync with the content on the screen. This is intended to provide an immersive television experience and give the impression that the television picture is larger than it actually is.

The new “Ambilight plus” offers a higher resolution than the previous technology and can project four different image levels. This is intended to ensure that image structures can be recognized in the light. The television is also impressive in terms of sound: Philips has installed a 5.1.2-channel sound system from Bowers & Wilkins with a total of 18 speaker drivers. You can find the Philips stand in Hall 21.
