Try the Solar Crown Unlimited, the long-awaited next entry in the popular online open-world racing series released yesterday for people who purchased the $90 Gold Edition of the game. Unfortunately, the game was mostly unplayable for those people due to server issues.
The last Unlimited test drives was launched in 2011 and allowed people to drive around in amazing sports cars in an MMO-like open-world racing experience. And after waiting 13 years to get a new Unlimited test drivesthe players who bought the most expensive version of the game were able to start playing on September 5th, before the racing game officially launched on September 12th. Or, well, that was the plan.
On September 5, the developers of KT Racing published a blog
“Our teams are working tirelessly to stabilize the servers so everyone can enjoy the game as soon as possible,” KT Racing said, before listing the following measures to “resolve these network issues”:
- Our server team has been actively investigating the root causes of the connection errors.
- We have implemented server optimizations to handle the large number of players attempting to access the game.
- We have increased server capacity to reduce queues and connection errors.
- Our quality assurance team has performed thorough testing to ensure stability before deploying our fixes.
- While each solution helped to some extent, some of them also introduced new technical challenges. We are actively working to resolve all network issues and thank you again for your patience.
This post was later updated, with the developers stating that things were improving and they were continuing to work on the issues.
In the meantime, over on Reddit and in the official Discord of the game you will find numerous players share pictures of error messages, never-ending loading screens, and other problems. Many report that they cannot race against other players and can only drive through the open world. Others cannot even load the game. And when it does load, there are there were complaints about numerous disturbances.
Sun Crown does not support offline play. Until the servers stabilize and the situation improves, players who paid extra to play seven days early will not be able to take advantage of this benefit.
Hopefully the situation will improve by September 10th, when buyers of the cheaper Silver Edition of the game will also be able to start playing.
However, I also hope that this is another reminder to developers and publishers that when you promise early access to people who pay more for your online game, Then you better make sure that the servers actually workAnd for gamers: I would recommend waiting until launchsave some money and play the game if it is actually playable.
