Alien: Earth’s First Trailer Is Very Short, and It Definitely Features Earth and Aliens

The first trailer and details for Alien: Earth have been released, but don’t expect too much from them.

Things have been relatively quiet for fans of the series since Alien: Covenant hit theaters in 2017, but 2024 is apparently the year that changes that. Alien: Romulus, the first film after Covenant, just hit theaters in August, and yesterday, the first TV series based on the popular sci-fi horror Alien: Earth released its first trailer. Well, yes, of course it’s a trailer! The trailer is pretty simple, starting off with an overhead shot of Earth, before revealing it to be a reflection of the Alien’s sleek, shiny head, and ending with a terrifying scream. You know, classic Alien action. Luckily, a plot synopsis has been released that shares a few more details.

“When a mysterious spaceship crash-lands on Earth, a young woman (Sidney Chandler) and a ragtag group of tactical soldiers uncover a fateful secret that brings them face to face with the planet’s greatest threat yet,” the series explains. In addition to Chandler, the cast also includes The Mandalorian fan-favorite Timothy Olyphant, who will reportedly play a synth named Kirsh, said to be a mentor to Chandler’s Wendy, who is described as a “hybrid metahuman” with the body of an adult and the brain and consciousness of a child. Sounds pretty ethical!

Noah Hawley serves as the series’ creator, having previously written for the TV version of Fargo, also produced by FX, and the X-Men adjacent series Legion (again, this is an FX series, so it looks like the network really likes this writer/director).

Alien: Earth is also the earliest entry in the series’ timeline, taking place thirty years before the original 1979 film. It has no release date yet, but will be available on Hulu in 2025.
