By selling premium games, developers in Roblox receive up to 70% revenue share.
CEO and co-founder David Baszucki announced at the annual Roblox developer conference in San Francisco that the company plans to introduce premium games to its platform.
In the future, developers will receive a share of between 50 and 70% of the revenue from their games. Currently, estimates suggest that this figure is only 30% from purchases with in-game currency.
The premium games will initially be launched on PC this year and later expanded to other devices.
The company is also working towards having 1 billion daily active users, reaching 79.5 million daily active users by the end of June 2024. Additionally, 10% of all global video game revenue is expected to go through the Roblox ecosystem.
“As the next step on our journey to one billion DAU, we have an ambitious goal: We believe that 10% of all game content revenue worldwide will flow through the Roblox ecosystem and be distributed within our Roblox community,” he said.
