Gameloft, HarperCollins Productions and Netflix Games have confirmed to IGN that they are working on a new Carmen Santiago game for the Nintendo Switch family of systems and other formats. The AC-packed adventure will first come to smartphones via Netflix in the first quarter of 2025, before coming to game consoles later that quarter. Carmen Santiago will feature a story-driven campaign and “classic modes,” with players taking on the role of Carmen as she destroys those evil Vile operatives.
“The shift from stalker to Carmen herself offers a fresh take on the game, allowing players to fully immerse themselves in her world of espionage and globe-trotting adventures. The second character you see at the beginning of the trailer is ‘The Player’ from the Netflix series, which is also a reference to an unseen action figure from the 1994 animated series Where on Earth is Carmen Sandiego? The player now serves as Carmen’s sidekick. This means you’ll experience the game entirely from Carmen’s perspective, with the Player helping you navigate missions, solve puzzles and outwit the DUMB operatives.”
“It features all the exploratory fun of the original base game loop (collecting clues and tracking down UGLY operatives around the world) combined with all-new off-road immersive city exploration,” they told us. “We’ve also included a classic mode called ‘The Acme Files,’ which is a heartfelt tribute to the Carmen Sandiego games of the 80s. Nostalgic gamers as well as fans of the Netflix series will also find hidden Easter eggs in the game’s locations—little surprises we’re excited for the community to discover!”
