Apple Watch Series 10: New design for the anniversary
The Apple Watch X is not just any watch for the US manufacturer – it is an anniversary: exactly ten years ago, Apple took its first step into the smartwatch market.
The company wants to celebrate this with the Apple Watch Series 10 and is relying on what it claims is the “largest and thinnest” display ever. The screen is even said to be slightly larger than the 1.92-inch display of the Apple Watch Ultra 2. Overall, Apple promises around 30 percent more screen space compared to its predecessor.
The manufacturer of the Apple Watch Series 10 also gives similar figures for the panel, which is called “Wide Angle OLED”. When viewed from acute angles, the watch’s screen is said to remain 40 percent brighter than the ninth generation.
In terms of thickness, the Apple Watch Series 10 is around ten percent thinner than the Series 9 at 9.7 millimeters.
The same applies to the weight of the new smartwatch, which is also said to be around ten percent lighter. The new material called “Polished Titanium” is even lighter and is said to be 20 percent lighter than the stainless steel watch version.
With “Polished Titanium,” Apple is showing a more elegant version of the Watch Series 10.
Apple Watch Series 10: New chip and new health features
A new edition of the smartwatch also comes with a new processor. In the case of the Watch Series 10, this means the S10 chip, the most striking improvement of which is said to be the expanded “Neural Engine” with four cores.
They are primarily used for a neural network that is supposed to be able to intelligently filter out background noise when making phone calls. The translation app is also said to be a beneficiary of the improved neural engine.
In terms of health features, Apple mentions the automatic detection of sleep apnea, which has already been discussed several times in the rumors about the Watch Series 10. According to the company, 80 percent of those affected have not received a diagnosis.
To detect sleep apnea, the Apple Watch uses a new metric that relies on irregularities in the breathing cycle to detect potential health problems. The feature is also set to be rolled out to the previous generation in over 150 countries, although Apple has not given a date.
