The PS5 Pro has long been considered a certainty and now the rumors seem to be confirmed that Sony wants to present the console refresh in September. To be precise: tomorrow.
Wow, that came with little advance notice. Like Sony just announceda technical presentation on the PlayStation 5 is scheduled to take place tomorrow (Tuesday, September 10th) at 5 p.m. According to this, the last date leak would be correct, at least in principle. However, it also mentioned a new State of Play, which has not yet been officially mentioned.
The presentation is expected to be around nine minutes long (not a lot) and will be conducted by PlayStation chief engineer Mark Cerny. According to Sony, the presentation will focus “on the PS5 and innovations in gaming technology.” Although the other announcements don’t reveal much, it’s not hard to guess that it will most likely be about the PS5 Pro.
The refresh has been a topic for some time and hints of a September announcement and a release in the fourth quarter have been piling up for some time. The 30th anniversary of the Playstation is also a fitting occasion. Even the alleged new design has already leaked out, albeit unconfirmed. Now Sony is apparently finally letting the cat out of the bag. What exactly can we expect? We will find out in just under 24 hours.
Rumors so far suggest that the new console will have a removable drive. There is also talk of around 45 percent more rendering power, improved ray tracing and a stronger GPU/CPU combination. There is also talk of Sony’s own upscaling system that is supposed to improve the frame rate similar to FSR or DLSS.
It will also be interesting to see what price the PS 5 Pro will be available at. Given the recent price increase of the “classic” Playstation 5 in Japan, it is unlikely that the refresh will be a bargain.
