It had been ringing loudly for some time and has already been presented: the world’s first foldable with two hinges and that forms a panel worthy of a tablet has arrived from Huawei. It is the Huawei Mate XT, a terminal that presents itself to the world with two folds capable of “stretching” the diagonal above what we have seen so far.
The Chinese firm showed it a few days ago in a teasing official. Of course, despite being the most expensive in the history of mobile telephony, its price has not reached the figures predicted by the leaks. Now that it is official and revealed, we tell you what its specifications and availability are. This is the Huawei Mate XT.
Huawei eats Samsung’s toast, which has so far proven to be at the forefront of foldables
The concept of a mobile phone that transforms into a tablet isn’t new: Samsung started the foldable journey in 2019 with its original Galaxy Z Fold. Since then, the industry has progressed with displays featuring ever-smaller bezels, larger batteries, and a thickness that becomes thinner with each new generation
However, Huawei’s launch has raised a lot of expectations: since the controversial Huawei Mate 60 Pro, equipped with a processor and components not authorized by the United States, the Chinese firm has reappeared in its country like a phoenix. In terms of sales, it has managed to overtake Apple – iPhones are therefore experiencing unprecedented sales in the Eastern country – and HarmonyOS is already the second most used operating system in China.
These ingredients, added to the innovation of Huawei’s new foldable that has suffered some leaks, have increased the anticipation to see how far the Shenzhen-based giant can go. It’s not nothing to boast about the world’s first “triple” fold to be marketedbut the Huawei Mate XT can do it. We have already seen attempts in this direction from brands like TCL.
What are your specifications? We see them in a table that demonstrates the power of Huawei:

It doesn’t have two screens: only a foldable one
The device presents itself to the world with a fairly premium design and linked to the latest versions of the Chinese manufacturer. Its rear vegan leather It comes in red and black and includes gold details that make it elegant.
This rear part also houses the remarkable camera module, which has a total of three lenses. But the important thing here is its three screens, and its two hinges, which allow use it in different positions and they do both internal and external flexion.
This hinge system is made up of 26-position cams, which provide strength as well as smoothness when folding. For its part, Huawei claims to have managed to reduce the internal fold by 25% thanks to the inclusion of the largest UTG glass in the industry.
The screen offers versatility. On the one hand, it can be a classic mobile phone, on the other a foldable phone (thanks to the first extension) and as a novelty, a tablet mode that combines the three parts to reach 10.2 inches. In its most collected mode, it has a thickness of 12.8 millimeters while this is reduced when using the 7.9-inch diagonal. Fully open, it measures a very thin 4.75 millimeters.
The saga of the controversial chip continues: little power for a very high price
Inside, the components show that Huawei goes with everything: 16GB of RAM, plenty of internal storage with different versions, and a chip known from the Pura 70: the Kirin 9010 5G manufactured by SMIC using a 7-nanometer process. In terms of power, it is below the Snapragon 8 Gen 3, and even its predecessor.
And yes, it comes with HarmonyOS version 4.2 while waiting for the imminent HarmonyOS Next, the version that loosens the ties that still bound it to Android. Your battery, 5,600 mAh with 66-watt fast charging15-watt wireless charging and 7.5W reverse wireless charging.
As for the photographic section, this triple folding includes a 50 megapixel main sensor: with 5.5 magnifying optical zoom. It is accompanied by a 12-megapixel periscope sensor and a 12-megapixel ultra-wide-angle sensor. Huawei is betting on its own variable aperture configuration that gave such good results in the Pura 70 Ultra.
