The most powerful PlayStation console ever assembled is now official. We know what the PS5 Pro will look like and we always assumed it would be a leap in quality. But How much better is it than the original PS5? Until we test it game by game and see what the developers have achieved with the DualSense in hand, the best reference we have on the table are its specifications.
The premise is really simple, but interesting: to compare both PlayStation consoles head to head based on their hardware, dimensions and the connections offered. Because the fact that PS5 Pro has new ray tracing technology and relies on Artificial Intelligence is great, but first we will have to see where and how we can connect it to our screen.
What about the 2023 PS5 model, popularly known as the “Slim”? Despite the different casing, internal layout, and elements like heat dissipation technology, there’s actually no difference in gameplay compared to the original PS5s since they share the same processor, graphics, and performance. On the other hand, it is worth remembering that the weight of the new features of PS5 Pro is not only in its hardware, but in the technology applied, including the Artificial Intelligence acceleration system or the PSSR (PlayStation Spectral Super Resolution Upscaling) that will increase the resolution quality of the games or the new sound technology.
It’s worth noting, however, that the PS5 Pro’s disc drive will not be included, although it can be purchased separately for 119 dollars. The same applies to the stand for placing the console vertically.
In any case, Sony has put forward a new alternative for those who want to get a PS5 and, at the same time, an improved model for those who want to renew and make the most of the new “improved for PS5 Pro” seal. The price difference is there, and it is big. But in the end it all comes down to the same thing: new options, better gaming experience.
