Sony has officially unveiled the PlayStation 5 Pro and the price is really impressive: $799.99.
Sony introduces the PlayStation 5 Pro console for an incredible 799.99 dollars. The PS5 Pro will not have a disc drive and will only be sold as a digital-only console.
However, gamers can purchase an extra Ultra HD Blu-ray Disc drive to play games or movies from discs. The vertical stand is also sold separately for this model and is also not included in the box.
It comes with a 2 TB SSD, a DualSense wireless controller and a copy of Astro’s Playroom pre-installed.
Sony provided the following information regarding the technical details:
Sony: “Upgraded graphics processor: With the PS5 Pro, we are upgrading to a graphics processor that has 67% more processing units than the current PS5 console and 28% more memory. Overall, this enables up to 45% faster rendering for gameplay, making the gaming experience significantly smoother.
“Advanced Ray Tracing: We’ve added even more powerful ray tracing that allows for more dynamic reflection and refraction of light. This allows the rays to be cast at twice, sometimes even three times the speed of the current PS5 console.”
“AI-powered upscaling: We’re also introducing PlayStation Spectral Super Resolution, an AI-powered upscaling that uses machine learning-based technology to deliver a razor-sharp image by adding an extraordinary amount of detail.”
“Other improvements include PS5 Pro Game Boost, which can be applied to more than 8,500 backwards compatible PS4 games playable on PS5 Pro. This feature can stabilize or improve the performance of supported PS4 and PS5 games. Enhanced Image Quality for PS4 games is also available to improve resolution on select PS4 games. PS5 Pro will also launch with the latest wireless technology, Wi-Fi 7, in areas that support this standard. VRR and 8K gaming are also supported.”
The new PS5 Pro will be released on November 7, 2024. Pre-orders will begin on September 26, 2024.
