The free-to-play game Once Human, which has been available for two months, is very popular and has a solid player base despite a lot of negative feedback that the studio is trying to respond to.
Despite a saturated market for multi-survival games, Once Human managed to stand out from the crowd with its unique post-apocalyptic atmosphere and artistic direction, all free to play. However, the launch was not smooth, with Starry Studio making several controversial decisions. A mixed success, then, and the developers are trying to convince players to keep their title in its relatively good momentum.
As soon as Human is hot and cold for the players, the studio reacts
Available for free on PC and mobile since July 9, Once Human has managed to stand out from other similar survival games thanks to its unique universe. On Steam, the title recorded a peak of 230,000 concurrently connected players upon its release. Although the initial enthusiasm has died down a bit, there are still almost 100,000 active players at the time of writing these lines. A pretty good performance for a serve game that wasn’t very well known before its arrival.
However, Once Human shows an average of “rather positive” reviews, with 72% positive opinions on the Valve platform. The free game is already in its second season, but is experiencing a wave of red thumbs due to irrelevant decisions. On the one hand, player progress starts at 0 in each season, which is challenging for a survival game. Then, the changes made on the second date in terms of weapon construction and the progression of the scenarios aroused great discontent among players.
The studio behind Once Human gave an official response to this effect on the game’s Discord (reported by Eurogamer), stating that it ” There was a lot of feedback on the second season, some of it quite demoralizing “. Therefore, to catch up, Starry Studio intends to open the debate with the community through surveys to better understand what they expect from the game in the future. In the meantime, the developers are trying to find viable solutions to the two major problems raised by the players. Let’s hope for their sake that the situation will be resolved soon, even at the risk of losing the solid base of survivors still active, with the potentially dramatic consequences of such an exodus.
