How to Update AirPods
Updating AirPods isn’t as simple as updating your iPhone or other Apple device. To download this new firmware version, you’ll need to follow the steps below and be a little patient. Apple assures that The update happens automatically when your iPhone, iPad, or Mac is near the AirPods.
Firmware updates are delivered periodically while your AirPods are charging and within Bluetooth range of your iPhone, iPad, or Mac.
Despite this warning, one can try to “force” the update of the AirPods. The first thing we recommend is connect the AirPods to the iPhone as you normally do, enter Settings and the “AirPods” menu that appears in the upper area, and check the firmware version below that they have. If they don’t have the latest version, 7A294, the normal thing would be to wait, although you can follow these steps to try to install the update on your AirPods first:
- Keep AirPods Pro 2 in their charging case.
- Connect the case to the charger using the Lightning cable.
- AirPods Pro 2 must be connected to your iOS device.
- Obviously, your iPhone or iPad must be connected to the Internet.
- It’s unclear exactly when, but leaving the two devices close together for a while will cause the AirPods Pro 2 to update to the latest version.
- If devices have 100% battery life, it is easier for them to update.
